Series 500 — Keepsake Boxes
A box, at its simplest, is a quiet form — four sides, a top, and a bottom.
What shapes it beyond that is purpose.
Some are made to hold letters, photographs, or small objects passed from one hand to another over time. Others become jewelry boxes, humidors, ring boxes, or places for things whose value is measured less by cost than by meaning.
Each piece begins with proportion and intention.
The standard keepsake box measures 10” wide by 6” deep and 4” high, though custom dimensions may be created to suit a particular purpose or object. Wood species, personalization, and joinery may all be selected as part of the process.
The joinery itself becomes part of the design.
Mitered corners offer restraint and simplicity. Box joints reveal rhythm and structure. Dovetails speak more openly of the hand behind the work. While advanced joinery is often associated with strength, here it also serves as a visible part of the piece’s character — not hidden, but meant to be seen.
No two boxes will ever be fully alike.
The movement of grain, the contrast between woods, and the marks left by careful handwork are part of what give each piece its quiet individuality.

No two pieces will ever be identical. The wandering grain of wood, subtle shifts in tone, and the marks left by careful handwork are not imperfections to be removed — they are part of the character of the piece itself.
